I am African-American and I grew up with kinky hair. After the birth of my first child my hair texture changed from kinky to curly. I no longer have to use a chemical relaxer to straighten my hair and no longer need hair products formulated for relaxed hair.
My quest began to find products that work on my new texture, would not damage my hair color, and were affordable. After a lot of searching I found Hamadi, a product line that fit my first two criteria (great on my texture, kind to my color) but cost a lot of money. So my goal then became to find a cheaper line without sacrificing quality.
I found Garnier Fructis line and now use Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo For Color Treated or Permed Hair, Fortifying Cream Conditioner For Color Treated or Permed Hair and finish with Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Leave-In-Conditioner. These replaced my Hamadi products (see my reviews of Hamadi products for more information).
Sleek &Shine Fortifying Leave-In Conditioner
I follow up the Shampoo and Conditioner with the Sleek and Shine Fortifying leave in Conditioner. I towel dry my hair and apply the leave-in conditioner and let it air dry. My hair is thick and can become unruly so I find that it wears and looks better when I take the time to use the leave in conditioner. My hair stays manageable and dries into a mane of defined curls. This product works as well as the Hamadi leave-in -conditioner.
The leave-in is thicker than the Fortifying cream conditioner and the packaging makes it easier to use. You squeeze out the amount you need and it is easier than using a product packaged in a jar.
The most dramatic difference is the price. The most expensive price I have seen for 10.2oz, of leave in conditioner is $4.99; on Amazon and depending on the store you can find it cheaper. That works out to about $.49 per oz vs. $4.75 per oz of the line I used previously.
I love these products because they work like expensive products and are affordable. It is has been hard for me to find quality products, that work well on my hair texture, and are also reasonably priced. My quest for new hair products is finally over.
