(More customer reviews)I am a 49 year old African American woman who recently let my relaxer grow out because I was tired of relaxing my hair and all the damage that comes from that process. That was a VERY difficult task, since most women cut their relaxed hair off to go all natural but I don't look good with very short hair, and I was afraid that I'd damage that little bit of hair through heat styling and wind up never being able to grow it out again. Instead I would get my "ends dusted" (slight trim) every three weeks and I did deep conditioners with heat weekly. During the process I had thick nappy roots and the rest was fragile relaxed hair. All of the relaxer is finally grown/cut out of my hair and its all natural now. Then....I was faced with, what do I do with this natural hair, it's very thick and coarse and I found out that an afro is not a good look for me, I like wearing my hair styled straight. I'd blow dry and flat iron it straight but could never get it to be manageable, or stay that way, especially during the humid summer months. About 4 weeks ago my sister gave me a sample of this Alter EGO Nourishing Nova Care Intensive Nutri-Mask in a medicine bottle (enough for 3 uses). I washed my hair, put this conditioner in and left it on for 30mins. and rinsed it out. I immediately noticed my hair was a lot easier to comb through and after I blow dried it, the results were beautiful, my hair was soft and felt healthy and strong. After flat ironing it, it behaved like it did when it was relaxed, lots of body, very manageable and it holds its style very well now. I also noticed that my hair is no longer breaking like it was from the heat styling and trying to comb thru it while wet. I immediately searched for and ordered the product on Amazon. I love it!!!! I see that there is a shampoo and a leave in conditioner here on Amazon associated with this line and I intend to purchase them also. It's a bit pricey but you get a huge bottle for the money making it well worth the cost for me. I love my hair again!!!!
