(More customer reviews)I have used Jason's Fragrance-Free Shampoo for the past few years, which has been great for my skin's sensitivity but not so great on my hair. Although it contains minimal harmful ingredients and doesn't lead to build up, it made shampooing my hair an unpleasant experience, making my hair rather difficult to detangle, while doing little to improve my hair's condition.
Although it left my face clear of any rashiness, which was an important attribute, my hair looked stringy and frizzy upon drying. It sucked the moisture from my already-parched hair. My hair became very brittle and prone to breakage using this organic shampoo, although to it's credit, it suited my highly sensitive skin in that it didn't cause any negative skin reaction.
Given that the multitude of other shampoos I sampled either left my face rashy and/or also left my hair looking stringy or untamed -- and not in a good way -- I decided to persevere with Jason's shampoo. However, I didn't give up on my search for something better suited for my moisture-hungry hair. I continued to test out more shampoos and conditioners, organic and commercial, without success.
Finally, I made the decision to try out a shampoo and conditioner from the Giovanni line. I was a bit hesitant at first due to the essential oils and fragrance this line contains, both of which have a tendency to make my skin rashy. However, I finally decided to give it a try and purchased the Shampoo Root 66 Max Volume as well as the Leave-in Conditioner.
That's the back-story and needless to say, I am impressed with the above two products. I am so thrilled with the Root 66 shampoo because now I can actually detangle my hair, my hair rinses clean with ease, there's no build-up, and it doesn't leave my hair dry or fluffy. My hair feels and looks stronger and fuller, and my curls are beautifully defined. Also, it doesn't irritate my skin and leaves very little residual scent. Obviously, everyone's sensitivity-level is different, so I do understand that what may work for one may not work for another.
The Leave-in Conditioner really helps define and condition my curls, so I recommend it if you want to end up with a polished look. I do believe that my curls are in much better condition due in large part to the lack of sulfates in these products, and couldn't be more pleased!
I urge you to give this shampoo and the leave-in conditioner (or just the shampoo, if you're not a conditioner-type girl) a shot, if you want clean, beautiful locks! It worked for me, and my curls are difficult to please. I hope you have just as much luck as I did.
