It really doesn't, but if your hair is very oily and you just want a day or two to get by without washing it, this powder serves that purpose. You will have a bit of red under your fingernails if you scratch your head, but that easily washes out. The product washes out of all clothing very well.
This is better than just using talc on your hair, but if you get to the point you want to use this, you certainly don't want to go out in public, because your hair will not look or feel clean. I think the purpose is just to get a few extra days without washing your hair, so you can hang at home where no one will see you.
It's a small bottle for the price I paid of $18, but packed to the brim. I've only used it 3 times so far and I have it on right now. I'll probably put more on later on. My hair is dark red and it does seem to work with all colors of red.
It just doesn't leave your hair feeling clean. But give it a try yourself. I bought 2 of them and I'll buy it again as it does give me a few emergency days for my oily hair.
