(More customer reviews)I am an African American woman with really tightly curled hair. I hate using chemical relaxers, but hair is extremely thick and it is difficult to handle without some help. I was pretty sure I would have to chemically straighten my hair forever, until I read about keratin treatments. The concept is pretty simple...altering the hairs natural texture by adding protein to it (not breaking the protein down). Everyone's hair is primarily made of keratin (regardless of race). Heat also straightens everyones hair (it temporarily alters the structure of the bonds between the molecules of the hair). Adding something to make the hair stronger, then bonding that protein to the hair with heat made sense to me. I was a little nervous about the formaldehyde, but all of the research I have done tells me that some formaldehyde is needed to ensure the keratin "sticks" to the hair. Low concentrations work just as well as the super high concentration, over-whelming salon concoctions.
The shampoo has a pH level of 8, which also makes sense. It opens the cuticle of the hair so that the protein can actually "get into" the hair shaft. I washed my hair twice, to make sure it was really clean. It left my hair soft and not overly tangled. ( I am sure opening of he hair cuticle caused some of the minor tangling I experienced, but nothing a large tooth comb couldn't handle). I dried my hair naturally for about 3 hours and then used a dryer to take out the rest of the moisture (only because blow drying my hair turns it into a ball of frizz without a serum of some kind) I applied the keratin treatment just like when I relax my hair.....really easy to do. I let it sit in my hair for the prescribed time; this is difficult, because even though this is a low concentration formula, the formaldehyde is rough on the eyes and makes you cough.
If you have thick hair like me, the flat ironing takes a long time. I had to section my hair in tiny sections and then comb out the tangles. Each section required between 3 to 7 passes of the flat iron on high. But let me tell you.....MY HAIR HAS NEVER BEEN SO SHINY, SOFT, SLEEK, SILKY OR BEAUTIFUL in my whole life. This product turned my afro hair into a what almost looks like a weave. I couldn't believe it. As I continued through my hair, I realized that this was the money well spent. I am ordering bottles for my mother and my sisters. I wish I had found this product years ago. I love my hair, but this makes me love it even more. Trust me, you will be singing the praises of this keratin treatment as soon as you start to flat iron your hair!!!!!

The Moroccan Keratin Hair Treatment by Inoar is the next generation of the popular Keratin. The exclusive Inoar Moroccan Treatment rebuilding formula is composed of Keratin, White Clay and Cocoa Oil and is designed to treat and straighten damaged/curly hair in an efficient and long-lasting manner. In addition to repairing damaged hair, the product reduces volume by 80 to 90 percent, on average. The treatment can be used on virgin or chemically treated hair, over other relaxing or straightening treatments, leaving hair straight and hydrated. This treatment allows you to wash hair or tie it down on the same day of service. Another main advantage is that, once the professional applies the product, it only requires 20 minutes to treat hair before finishing with flat iron. With the use of "sulfate-free" shampoo, treatment will last as long as 3-4 months.
